Optional Tour: For those interested, you can take an excursion to the Abu Simbel temples, either by private coach or domestic flight. Upon arrival in Aswan, you will be met by our English-speaking tour guide who will transfer you by private, air-conditioned van to Abu Simbel, located 180 miles south of Aswan on the western bank of the Nile. The site, known as Meha in ancient times, was first documented during the 18th Dynasty. You will visit the Abu Simbel Temples, built by the renowned King Ramses II. The larger temple, known as the Great Temple, is dedicated to the god Rahorakhty, while the smaller temple honors Ramses II and his beloved wife, Queen Nefertari.
